Meet the team
The team in the south east are dedicated to reaching the 95% of children and young people who do not go to church. Through partnership with churches, charities and local volunteers the team seek to create new opportunities for children and young people to respond to Jesus. Using the language of sport, digital media, big festivals, local community fun days and more, the team can inspire and equip others to reach those who don't yet know the good news of Jesus.
"Perhaps we could help you in your area? Or maybe you could partner with us through prayer, volunteering and giving."
My hope is to see new opportunities for children and young people to respond to Jesus across the south east of England. With a background in sport, schools and community events I long for churches and other partners to meet children and young people in those spaces.
Development Worker (Schools), Scripture Union England and Wales
My passion is for every child and young person from all backgrounds to be able to connect with Jesus. I really believe that in partnering together we can create more opportunities for children and young people in schools and communities to hear about Jesus and respond to him.
Scripture Union Development Worker (London)
I love equipping churches and working with them to share the good news of Jesus with young people. I use sports and events to build relationships and I try to share the good news in a way that's relevant to young people who have never been in church before. I'd love to see churches passionate about working with young people and helping change their lives.
SU Development Worker (Church and Community)
There's nothing better than seeing children and young people get to know Jesus. With a background in youth and schools work, I hope to see churches, and our other partners, meet children and young people in their local community.
It is a real privilege to be serving as part of Scripture Union's mission. I support and equip the team to carry out their vision for children and young people to be reached with the gospel by offering administrative and practical support.
Lianne Semans Smith
Scripture Union Development Worker (Church and Community)
As a practitioner in children’s and youth ministry, I've developed a deep passion to see Christian communities embrace their responsibility to nurture the faith of their younger members, and to share the good news of Jesus with those who haven’t heard it. I'm privileged to be able to share this passion through my ministry with Scripture Union.
My heart and passion is to see children and young people come to know Jesus from a young age, that they might become radical disciples of him and seek to serve him in their day-to-day lives. That a generation might be changed by the love of God and go on to change their towns, countries and world with the gospel that changes, frees and restores people to become all that they were created to be.
Development worker (maternity leave)
I am passionate about seeing children and young people develop and grow in their faith by being given opportunities to put it into action no matter how old they are. In my role I have the privilege to work with churches as they seek to reach out to children and families in their local community.
