At times the limits that have been placed on us by the coronavirus restrictions have been hard – especially with a lack of face-to-face contact with children and young people
So it was great during August to finally get out and work with a church in Penrith to do some careful, outdoor engagement with families. Mission Enabler Neil was able to use some ideas from our Leaving Lockdown resources (link below) and threw in an extra game for good measure!
Whilst the activities were great, the most important thing that day was a conversation which Chenda, the church families’ worker, had with a boy who just happened to drop in. The boy had been cycling around the church and Chenda was able to chat with him. He was struggling in the light of his parents going through a separation and she was able to pray for him and encourage him. He was also able to express his own feelings about God and prayer and then joined us for our activities.
That day it felt like everything we did was entirely for that one boy and it served as a great reminder that it's sometimes not just the crowds that God reaches but individual children and young people.
Pray for them . . .
Do please continue to pray for the children and young people - that God will work in their lives however we engage with them, whether face-to-face or online, in big groups or one-to-one.
