Stamps for SU

Story type:

The Scripture Union Stamp Bureau has raised thousands of pounds thanks to the faithfulness of one man

Stamps

Who would have thought that stamps, even those of the common everyday variety, could be worth so much? Steve Ellis, a seasoned stamp collector from Stoke-on-Trent did.

Steve ran the SU Stamp Bureau until his sudden death in November 2023. In almost 25 years he raised over £43,000 for Scripture Union through the selling of stamps, and we give thanks for the years of dedicated service he provided and ask prayers for his family and friends as they come to terms with his loss.

It is our hope that the work Steve has committed so many years of his life to will continue for years to come. It is because of faithful supporters, like Steve, that we are able to support local churches and create opportunities for children and young people to explore the Bible, respond to Jesus and grow in faith.

Could you help this continue?

We're looking for a volunteer to continue Steve's incredible work and manage the selling of stamps collected by our supporters. You would be supported by a small team who will help with the preparation of the stamps, and co-ordinate directly with our National Office through our Facilities Assistant, Grace Inwood.

If you're a stamp enthusiast, familiar with ways to sell stamps, or simply willing to learn, we'd love to hear from you!

Please email [email protected] with the subject "Stamp Volunteer", or call 01908 856000 and ask to speak directly with Grace.
